Green Schools

We were delighted to receive our first Green Flag for our work on reducing Litter and Waste in our school in May 2018.

The Green Schools Programme is an international scheme to encourage and promote eco-friendly actions in schools. It raises awareness of environmental issues in classrooms and across the school community and encourages children to take the lead in reviewing existing practices, deciding a plan for change, implementing a new plan and checking its progress.

We have a Green Schools team made up of two children from each class. They meet regularly. In February 2016, they visited the Green Schools Expo at the RDS and founds lots of inspiration. Read about their visit here.

We received our first Green flag for ‘Litter and Waste’ from An Taisce at a special awards ceremony in the Helix in May 2018. We are so proud!
